Most Inspiring Women in Cyber 2022

Know a woman in cybersecurity who inspires you? #MIWIC2022

Nominations are now closed!

From the well-engrained stereotype of men coding in hoodies to the perception that cybersecurity is only for the highly technical, the IT industry has had to battle a number of misconceived notions that alienate huge segments of the population from even considering a career move into the field; notably, women. While work is being done to break down the barriers to entry and we are seeing improvements, now is not the time to fall complacent.

One of the crucial elements of making cybersecurity appeal to women is to show them the possibilities, by highlighting role models for them to aspire to. Specifically, role models who have had demonstrable success in the sector or are driving the changes necessary to redress the current imbalance. This is why we’ve created the Most Inspiring Women in Cyber Awards!

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the women’s achievements and shed light on these individuals as role models for others.

The public was free to nominate candidates via a form on the IT Security Guru website (the award is open to women worldwide), and the final Top 20 Women were selected by our esteemed panel of judges. A profile on each of these Top 20 Women will be published in the next couple of weeks – so keep an eye out!

The IT Security Guru and Eskenzi PR – with the generous support from our sponsors: KPMG, BT, KnowBe4 and Beazley – hosted a physical event at the BT Tower in London on Tuesday, the 22nd of November 2022. All nominees were invited and they were welcome to bring a plus one; their plus one had to be someone they believed would benefit from a networking event such as this (e.g a mentee, colleague etc.). The event was also live streamed for those who were unable to attend in person.
