Meet your Guru
Hello, there! I’m your writing and editing Guru, Dr. Auggie. I am the founder of GradAppGuru, a service that provides editing, feedback, and consultations on your writing. Whether you are writing a memo for your job, a chapter of your dissertation, or an application essay for graduate school, I aim to enhance all of your writing.
Prior to founding GradAppGuru, I worked as a History Lecturer at Loyola University Chicago, a Master’s Preceptor at the University of Chicago, a Persian Language Instructor at Arizona State University, and an English Supplemental Instructor at California State University, Northridge. I have also been involved with numerous academic admissions committees, professional writing seminars, and editing workshops, so I know what is needed for every type of writing from the undergraduate level to the post-graduate workplace. My experiences as an educator have fine-tuned my approach to writing and editing, and now, I can act as your personal Grammar Police! Let me help you reach your goals!
I have a PhD in Islamic History from the University of Chicago, a Master’s in History from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor’s in English with a Russian minor from Cal State Northridge. Yes, privyet moi druzya! Along with my studies of Russian, I know Persian, Turkish, Uzbek, and Uighur, and I dabble with other languages for fun. As Yoda might say, “Strong, my knowledge of grammar is.”
My spouse and I live in the Bay Area, and we spend our days looking after our 9-year-old “kittehhh,” Luna Stalinstache, having existential crises (as ya’ do), and trying not to go bankrupt from buying everything on the NYTimes Best Seller List. Please, feel free to reach out to me via The Contact page or purchase a service through The Shop.
I look forward to working with you!
